PetSmart recently celebrated its 30th anniversary! And while the retail industry has changed, the pet industry has grown, and our business strategies have evolved, there is one thing that hasn’t changed at all—the desire we have to help be a trusted partner to pets and pet parents. We spoke to 5 associates around the business who recently celebrated their 25th anniversary!! It’s amazing, but not surprising, to see that they are just as passionate about their jobs today as they were 25 years ago.
The craziest change to hit the pet industry may be just how much consumers spend on pets. In 1992, consumers spent about $8.2 billion, in 2017, consumers are set to spend nearly $70 billion on pets–that’s crazy growth! I think our venture into apparel is another crazy change–who would have ever thought your dog might end up in a football jersey!

The most meaningful part of my work has been the animals I have gotten to know and the pet parents who have brought me into their family. We have become friends through the years and their pets are just as important to me as they are to them. I have even been invited to weddings and graduations!
