Job Description

There are a lot of activities that happen in our stores so we have a strong cross-functional team focused on doing Anything for Pets by supporting the store teams through effective communications, processes and initiatives. The Store Strategy & Operations department leads the way to support all store activities and define business-driving strategies. The Workforce, Insights & Planning team owns labor optimization and reporting needs. The Operations & Innovation team owns merchandise execution, process improvement, compliance, store technology and innovation. And the Strategy team leads all the business-driving efforts for Salon, PetsHotel, Pet Training and In-store customer experience. These teams work diligently to ensure our associates, pets and pet parents are supported, while operating efficiently to drive the business.

PetsHotel is a critical portion of PetSmart’s business as we help to transform pet’s lives. PetsHotel and DDC are a critical aspect of our business helping to provide a needed solutions for pet-parents and pets alike, while driving value to total company. The PetsHotel Initiatives Specialist is responsible for growing revenue, retaining customers and optimizing costs within the Services PetsHotel business.  Responsibilities include managing key initiatives focused on creating disproportionate sales growth and customer retention. This individual will be responsible for collaborating with key cross-functional partners to plan, create, and launch PetsHotel projects with excellence.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as subject matter expert for PetsHotel. Responsible for managing key initiatives focused on creating disproportionate sales growth and improving customer retention.
  • Strong focus on innovation, helping to identify whitespace within the services marketplace. Must have a keen eye on the trends and bringing forth opportunities to win.
  • Conducts regular competitive reviews to help understand the boarding marketplace and opportunities within the business.
  • Monitors data and performance trends daily to identify and consistently improve business opportunities.
  • Conducts regular field feedback sessions to maintain strong pulse on associate sentiment and work to action on opportunities.
  • Identify areas for optimization within existing projects and actively pursue opportunities to adjust results & create long-term road maps for each project.
  • Key Partner to Ops Project Management to maximize initiative’s success in the field - helping to support the creation of communication, training, dashboards and more.
  • Size new programs and initiatives in collaboration with various analytics departments.
  • Partner with key cross-functional partners to gather inputs to ensure successful results of key projects (Services Analytics, Ops, L&D etc.)
  • Partner with marketing to create new and innovative initiatives. Helps monitor and optimize redemptions and promotions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in retail, business preferred, or related field experience. 2-3 years’ experience in business strategy, project management, field experience, marketing, or merchandising.

SKILLS 

  • Executive presence and ability to influence up and across (including with Field Leadership & Service Leadership)
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Business acumen, strategic thinker, inquisitive and apt for process improvement
  • Highly collaborative across departments and field functions
  • Passion and ability to interpret data which translates into actionable insights
  • Must be able to devise creative solutions, produce measurable results, and clearly understand risks and contingency planning.
  • Must be detail oriented & skilled in project management.
