Quality Assurance Practice Lead

PetSmart is looking for a Quality Assurance Practice Lead who will use their expertise to spread knowledge and define quality practices, lead a team of quality-focused associates, and as needed, execute testing across customer facing applications.

Your goals and responsibilities will include:


  • Demonstrate abilities as a team leader; lead teams to create an atmosphere of trust
  • Develop your diversely skilled direct and indirect team members on sound quality practices
  • Support the individual professional development of the team
  • Provide guidance to a team of associates and contractors (on & off-shore)
  • Utilize collaboration skills to partner with other disciplines, business users, and vendors to bring high quality solutions and services to successful implementation
  • Develop strong relationships
  • Assist projects in the estimation of resource requirements


  • Establish policies, processes, and metrics to ensure achievement of quality goals
  • Oversee end-to-end program quality in a complex integrated environment
  • Lead test teams in planning and executing concurrent test programs and projects
  • Define and monitor quality and reusability standards across areas such as: application, integration, automation, stress, load, and performance testing
  • Provide constructive feedback throughout the development lifecycle to drive continuous process improvement
  • Ensure solutions and services meet PetSmart's standards, and customers' expectations for quality
  • Support waterfall and agile frameworks
  • Support the need and utilization of test environments
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies

What you’ll bring to the table:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 4-8 years of experience in a QA/Software Test Engineering related role required
  • 2+ years of experience in QA or software testing team required
  • Strong background in testing methodologies
  • Strong understanding of integration testing
  • Strong understanding of test automation
  • Working knowledge of performance/stress testing
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Program/Project management knowledge & skills for Agile/Scrum frameworks and Waterfall methodology
  • Strong customer focus
  • Passion for delivering quality software solutions, systems and services
  • Proven ability to work under tight deadlines and the ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Strong oral and written communicator with good interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude and solid work ethic
  • Continuous learner

Preferred Requirements:

Prefer experience with:

  • Test lab management
  • Release Management
  • Sustained Engineering
  • Hardware testing
  • Data verification
  • Jira/Confluence or similar project management platform
  • Retail, Store Systems, CRM, Web or Mobile solutions


CSM, CSPO, SAFe, Lean Agile, PMP, CQA, CSTE, CSTP, CQE, CSQE certification(s) are a plus
