Our Commitment to Sustainability
It's our goal and responsibility to help reduce environmental dependencies through sustainable practices wherever possible. We contribute to this goal at our corporate office, in our stores and at our other operating sites. Reusable shopping bags are currently for sale in many of our stores, and will be available in all stores by August 2009. We have also begun plastic bag recycling programs at many stores and are selling a variety of environmentally-friendly products.
In addition to our products, our stores are becoming increasingly sustainable by using more efficient lighting systems, energy management systems, Energy Star-qualified heating and cooling units as well as an advanced Transportation Management System that helps create the most efficient routes for our deliveries, reducing fuel consumption and emissions. We are dedicated to these efforts, and are committed to incorporating environmental sustainability into everything we do.
